Auto Match preserves original colors at source resolution. It chooses exact flat-color regions or appearance-preserving gradients according to the original pixels.

SVG approach

Tracing simplifies colors into shapes. Appearance preservation uses fine gradient paths at source resolution without embedding an image; files are larger and object editing is less convenient. Appearance limit: 48 million pixels.
